Step 1: Inspection
Our technicians look over your floor to identify the overall condition and determine which areas will require a higher degree of attention. If we notice anything, we will be sure to talk it through with you before moving ahead.
Step 2: Application
We apply a neutral cleaning solution developed by our in-house chemist and prepared on-site by our trained technicians to loosen oil, dirt, and grime from the surface of the wood. Over time, this can become tracked into the wood grain to the point where sweeping and mopping is unable to remove it.
Step 3: Scrubbing
We will use an appropriate machine to remove dirt and wax buildup from the surface, as well as absorb cleaning solutions and water. Often multiple passes are required to get good results.
Step 4: Drying
Fans are strategically set up to provide maximum air flow and ensure your floors are dry.
Step 5: Finishing
If desired, sealers can be added to your hardwood flooring. Note that while these products will provide a certain extra level of protection for your hardwood, we do not provide complete sanding and refinishing.

We will clean off the top layers of grime and oil, and we can apply polish to make your floors look great again. This can extend the life of your finish. However, we do not completely sand and refinish hardwood floors.
There are several factors that go into a proper answer to this question, including the condition of the floors, type of wood, state of the previous finish, and so on. Because of these issues, many Tri-Cities professional hardwood floor cleaning services companies (including us here at Novasteam) will require an in-person estimate before beginning work. The best way to determine costs is to schedule an appointment.
Steam cleaning may adversely affect the glue or the wood itself. If hot water is used to clean hardwood floors, it should only be done with caution.
Professional hardwood floor cleaners will use at least one high quality cleaning solution (or perhaps a battery of multiple solutions) and equipment such as buffers to achieve superior results. Technicians with the training required to effectively apply these solutions and use these machines are the not-so-secret ingredient that completes the picture.
